Growing up I was constantly surrounded by the wedding industry. My mother was a makeup artist for 14 years. I would sit and watch her apply her makeup in awe and fascination! My aunt is a florist and I loved helping her deliver and set up for weddings and other various events. The excitement and the busyness of the wedding industry mesmerized me.
I finished high school and went to college, not knowing what my future held. During my college years friends would always ask me to do their hair and I found several dorm-mates huddled around me watching me apply my own makeup on various occasions. I graduated college and three days later I was attending my first day of cosmetology school at the Aveda Institute. During my years in Charlotte, I was chosen to help with Charlotte Fashion Week. Charlotte gave me experience with runway and editorial work. I have had the pleasure of working under some incredible people, one being a hair and makeup stylist from Hollywood! When I worked outside of Detroit, I had him teach me tricks of the trade from his years working on TV and movie sets.
I have worked in various states and in various salons, but something about a wedding makes me get all tingly. Don’t get me wrong, I love working with my clients behind the chair, but nothing gets me more excited that seeing a bride get teary-eyed during a bridal trial with me. Nothing brings me more enjoyment than making a bride feel beautiful. I cherish the moments I get to spend with a bride, her best friends, and her family on the biggest day of her life.
